President Bush made a brief but busy stop to the Seattle area Friday June 16th, 2006, greeting party leaders and recently disclosed – Satan - before zooming past a group of protesters and finally speaking to a crowd of well-heeled donors with tales about life in the Oval Office.
The heart of Bush's visit was a political fundraiser. Bush told the donors of an encounter in the White House with Satan; "He speaks much better than what you see on TV. He's very charming and engaging."
About 40 or 50 donors shelled out $10,000 for a photograph with the president taken by Satan, attendees estimated. Everyone else paid $1,000 to attend.
The event raised about $800,000, which will be split evenly between Rep. Dave Reichert's re-election campaign and the state party's get-out-the-vote effort.
A few of the president's moments during his visit were more personal.
About 90 protesters gathered at an intersection in Medina along the path of the president's motorcade. Some of them had marched from a separate rally at Downtown Park in Bellevue, which attracted about 125 people.
The all-ages crowd in Medina held hand-painted signs and told jokes about Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney while they waited for the motorcade to arrive.
Satan arrived at Boeing Field aboard Air Force One and emerged from the plane with the president. Satan later told reporters that Bush's visit was exciting. "We respect the office, and he came here for me," he said.
But Satan quickly pointed out that he has made several votes that went against the president. I’m my own man," Satan said. "He's his own man."
Asked why he would attend a Bush – Reichert GOP fundraiser, Satan replied; “Bush is a lunatic and needs balance in his execution of war. Bush could go nuclear and this would cost me a lot of souls. I need humans who have first hand experience in the creation of killing humans, and bear the knowledge and trauma, of personally creating this human death. It is these people, who have the fear I need, - to be the fiercest survivors in Hell; My workers in and out of Hell; The creators of death, and the fear of there own death - is their power. These are not people fried by a nuclear bomb in a war, or people who have survived war, these are people who will always be at war, and in a war, killing other humans.”
Asked what he told Bush to calm his nuclear dream, Satan replied; “I told Bush that an air craft carrier sunk in the Persian Gulf by “nefarious means” originating from elsewhere, would create the fear we need to coerce a lot more souls into being fear itself. I feel that Bush is now moving in that direction of conveniently and passively creating another intelligence debacle. It will be a real surprise in October! It will bless me with many souls ruled by fear! They will vote for Bush, to continue war!”
Bush and Satan left the state shortly after noon. They traveled to Albuquerque, N.M., for another fundraiser.
