Daring To Be The Skunk.
from Elijah Gatewood -
American Army veteran gives reason why
the United States is, should and must
lose the war on terror.
Reporting from Washington.
Iam no Democrat, but the invasion of Iraq
was a bad mistake.
In 2003, the U.S. Congress, controlled
by Republicans and a Republican President,
voted to wage full scale war against Iraq.
Claiming that the Middle East and Muslim
nation had weapons of mass destruction
as well as supported terrorism, are
accusations that Americans now know are
false. The Central Intelligence Agency
that disrupts and overthrows foreign
governments, made it public that it
provided false information before the
war in Iraq.
The year is now 2006. Todate no weapons
of mass destruction have been found, and
war continues to mount even though the
United States and it's allies ceased
major combat oprations in 2004. But what
about the claim of Iraq endorsing
terrorism? This accussation is nothing
more than America's coming to grips to
the end of their hostile ways:
Thinking that U.S. citizens can do what they
want, when ever they want, especially to
their own citizens, not to mention people
in other countries. It is a hard reality
that the laws of nature are coming to pass.
Life cannot exist without basic laws. Yet,
American officials continue to feed to the
U.S. citizen to have freedom.
Former U.S. Secretary of State and U.S.
Army General Colin Powell went to the
U.N. to press the case against Iraq.
During his tenure at the State Department,
Powell was always at odds with cabinet
members in the Bush administration.
While I strongly disagree with General
Powell and the previous Secretary of State
on his position against Iraq, one thing
I can agree with him on, which symbolized
his entire career in government:
Colin Powell dared to be the skunk.
And he mentioned this characteristic in
a well known magazine, "Vanity Fair", and
his autobiography, "My American Journey".
General Powell puts it all in perspective
by saying, in 'daring to be the skunk',
"being responcibile sometimes means pissing
people off". So it is here that I too must
dare to be the skunk, mentioning that the
United States is, should and must lose the
war on terror. And this is being said for
rational reason. After the September 11th,
2001 attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and
Virginia, the Government has said that the
war on terror would last ten years. This
was right after it invaded Afghanistan in
October 2001. Now this year, President Bush
has said that the war on terror will be a
constant battle, with no end in sight,
because the United States "is not quite safe".
Evidently this global war is not about the
world, but only the U.S., because it "only"
attacked America six years ago. Strike
One.
With it's troops stretched thin, the American
people have alraedy been mislead about weapons
of mass destruction in Iraq. And the issue
about terrorism goes back to what was previously
mentioned: You cannot do what you wnat to do
and epect to get away with it. Strike Two.
American forces continue to occupy and wage
war against a nation that, never before in
it's history, has seen so much death and
destuction. Iraq is in a civil war, and
pretty soon the Iraqi Government will fall.
Democracy has proven to be failure because
it allows much mistakes, while at the same
time creating division. And since the United
States constantly talks about wanting freedom,
no one is goign to fight the war on terror or
conflict in Iraq---for free. This is proof
that America is losing the war on terror.
The world must be mindful that the United
States is the same nation that murdered it's
own U.S. presidnet, John F. Kennedy; Malcom X,
the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.
and Senator Robert F. Kennedy. Strike Three.
